Photo: Havana in the rain ~ Keith Cardwell
Cuba
is startling, a living museum on the
verge of change. Hollywood couldn’t have made a better
period backdrop than Havana’s mise-en-scene of eclectic
architecture ranging from Colonial to 1950’s. Narrow
streets pulsate with fifties Chevvies alongside Russian
Ladas while sidecars fill the gaps. Cuba cannot stand still
forever and a lot of its character will disappear, faster
than you can press your shutter. There is nowhere in the
world like this destination. It is unique and should be
recorded for posterity.
Trinidad town, near Cuba’s south coast is also, like Havana, a
World heritage site. Its opulence resulted from the sugar
boom of the eighteenth century when people made fortunes.
It is an exquisite colonial town, perhaps one of the most
photogenic in Latin America. Indeed, the famous National
Geographic photographer, David Allan Harvey, took some of
his most memorable photos here.
Join us on this stimulating tour with Professor Keith Cardwell,
an outstanding photographer who has led several photography
tours to Cuba before.
